And the section is going along this horizontal center line. If I zoom out a little bit, there's the metal plate there, there's the plan view. Now those solid lines indicate a break where the object has been sectioned. Now you'll notice we've got some solid lines here. So we're looking at the side of our metal plate there, and you can see the hidden detail there obviously showing any holes going through this particular metal plate. So the first thing we're going to do is place some hatching on the section view. Make sure you go to the home tab on the ribbon and on the layer dropdown, make sure that you are using the hatching layer, like so. Make sure that you are in the model tab looking at the section in side view, like you can see on my screen at the moment. And what we're going to do in this particular case is look at hatching and gradient fills. We have touched on hatching a little bit in previous videos. We're starting a new chapter now and we're going to take a look at hatching and gradient in AutoCAD in a bit more detail.
